Levante

The Levante blows from the East, where the Sun rises.

We have therefore chosen this name for the room that first gets the morning sun, as happens to the inhabitants of Puglia, which is the easternmost region of Italy.

Driven by the Levante, the ancient Greeks arrived on the coasts of Puglia and founded the Magna Graecia.

Even today, in Salento there are cities that preserve Griko, an idiom that derives directly from ancient Greek and that was rediscovered thanks to the Pizzica.

Every summer it is possible to be enchanted by the music and dances of the Pizzica in many towns, which keep alive the culture and the millenary tradition that it represents.
